An easy sweet bread that is good to go with tea or coffee or as snacks.
Prep Time: 3 hours and 15 mins
Baking Time: 45 minutes
Servings: 12 pieces
Ingredients:
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 packet instant yeast (2 ¼ teaspoons)
3 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup melted butter
1 cup warm milk
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup orange wedges (take the fresh ones or the canned ones)
Methods:
Combine warm milk, instant yeast, and sugar in a large bowl and leave it for 5 mins.
Add salt, melted butter, one egg, and the milk and yeast mixer to the flour and use a wooden spoon to mix well. You could use an electric stand mixer to mix it.
Make a slightly sticky dough.
Drizzle little oil into another large bowl.
Make the dough into a round ball and transfer it to the greased bowl with your hand.
Then cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap and place it in a warm place.
Allow dough to rise for 2 hours or until the dough is doubled in size.
After 2 hours, when the dough has risen, use your hands to gently deflate it and transfer it to a lightly floured surface.
Knead the dough for 2 to 3 mins or until it turns into a smooth ball.
Then roll it with a rolling pin.
Grease a baking tray lightly and put the flat dough into it.
I used canned oranges for this recipe.
Drain the water and separate the orange wedges.
Then put all the orange wedges on top of the dough and let it rise a second time for 1 hour.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees C.
Bake for 45 minutes or until golden brown.
Please take out the dread from the oven and let it cool down a little.
Spread honey over the orange bread and enjoy!
